Master Distiller’s Dinner at Southern Art

Southern Art welcomes the men behind Bourbon Bar’s distinct collection of private label bourbons at an exclusive Master Distillers Dinner on Thursday, November 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Led by head mixologist Clay Livingston and featuring master distillers Jim Rutledge of Four Roses, Trey Zoeller of Jefferson’s and Harlen Wheatley of Buffalo Trace, guests will delight in an intimate evening learning about and enjoying artisan cocktails as well as a gourmet four-course meal.

Hosted in Southern Art’s dining room and lounge, the event will begin with a happy hour at the Ham Bar showcasing passed cocktails of “the Governor” with Buffalo Trace Private Barrel, Fee Brothers black walnut bitters, bitter cube orange bitters and flamed orange, and “the Masters, Four Roses Private Barrel, champagne, Peychaud’s Bitters and housemade Manhattan bitters.

The evening’s master distillers will offer a rich profile of flavors to complement the four-course meal while illustrating a brief description and background of their distillery and private label. A cigar and cocktail reception on Southern Art’s spacious outdoor terrace will follow the dinner. The menu and accompanying cocktail pairings include:

Green Lip Mussels

Smoked Tomato Glass Noodles

Four Roses Private Barrel — “whiskey barrel old fashioned”

Second Course

Duck Pastrami

Watercress salad with fresh cranberry vinaigrette

Jefferson’s Private Barrel — “barrel aged cocktail”

Third Course

Chargrilled prime rib

Sweet potato dauphinoise, creamed Swiss chard

Buffalo Trace Private Barrel — “private Manhattan”

Fourth Course

Peach cobbler with crumb topping and bourbon ice cream

Jefferson’s Private Barrel — “the nutty Kentuckian”
